On the alvar fields at Österplana church, there are a number of orchids like the early purple orchid (Orchis mascula), the fragrant orchid (Gymnadenia conopsea), the musk orchid (Herminium monorchis) and the fly orchid (Ophrys insectifera). On the dry alvar soils is the rare Arenaria gothica found, small and short, with white flowers and extremely rare. Arenaria gothica is only found in Västergötland and on Gotland. On the dry alvar soils there are also several species of stonecrops - the Nordic equivalent of the cacti. There are also species such as sanicle (Sanicula europaea),  narrowleaf bittercress (Cardamine impatiens), yellow anemone (Anemone ranuncululoides), marsh louseworth (Pedicularis palustris) and the grass Bromus benekeni.
